Disabled& by April Lockhart

We had the privilege of creating the brand identity for Disabled&, a groundbreaking community that reframes disability as a source of strength, creativity, and connection. Founded by April Lockhart, a self-proclaimed “disabled fashion girlie,” this first-of-its-kind platform celebrates disability not just as an identity, but as a wellspring of style, ambition, and creative power.

Disabled& exists to foster genuine connection and growth within the disability community. The space facilitates everything from intimate dinners among new friends to entrepreneurial knowledge-sharing sessions and mentorship opportunities that bridge generations. It's a community designed by and for people with disabilities, creating authentic opportunities to gather, grow, and create together.

Our brand identity centers around an organic ampersand brought to life through fun typography and a vibrant palette of lavender, raspberry, bubblegum pink, periwinkle, oyster, and tangerine orange. These fun, bright colors feel girly, feminine, and effortlessly cool—perfectly capturing April’s “disabled fashion girlie” energy. The result is a bold, inviting visual identity that breaks away from traditional disability narratives, instead celebrating the community's commitment to style, creativity, and joyful connection.
